Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure stated the incident left him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
